Aerial Project Timeline

It’s pretty likely that you’ll need to get a new aerial for your home at some point. When you do, it’s handy to know how long it’ll take to install. This will help you organise your aerial project and do it at the right time.

To give you a vague idea of how long your aerial installation is likely to take, we’ve come up with a timeline. Remember that times vary though, so only use this as a general guide.

How long will an aerial project take?

Research: 1 week

It’s really important to spend time researching aerials and installers before you make any big decisions about your aerial project. If you decide to get an indoor aerial, you’ll probably be able to set it up yourself. But if you think an outdoor aerial or satellite dish would be best, then you’ll need to find an installer.

Take the time to find several different aerial installers and ask them for quotes. If you use our service to find pros, our companies will do their best to get in touch with you within 48 hours of you submitting your enquiry.

Once you’ve got several quotes, you’ll need to take some time to decide which one to accept. Ask the installers you’ve found if they have any online reviews or references. If you’ve found a pro through our service, take a look at their profile page to see how they’ve been rated.

Installation: up to 1 day

Once you’ve got a pro out to install your aerial or satellite dish, it won’t take them very long. If it’s just a case of replacing your aerial, this can be done very quickly. If you need a new pole for your aerial, this will need putting up too, which can take a little longer. Putting in new wiring and negotiating a roof that’s difficult to access are other things that may mean that your installation takes a bit longer.

Generally speaking, though, a skilled pro should be able to get your aerial or satellite dish up in 1-2 hours and certainly less than a day.

Total time: around 1 week

Hopefully now you’ve got a rough idea of how long your aerial project will take. If you’re struggling to find installers in your area, fill in our online form. We’ll find you up to 4 local aerial pros.
